Sharon Horvath’s Paintings

It’s no secret among my family and friends that I love beautiful art. I tend to gravitate to modern and contemporary art. If you are asking what is the difference, that is a good question. I found this simple “rule of thumb” on about.com:

  • Modern Art: Art from the Impressionists (say, around 1880) up until the 1960′s or 70′s.
  • Contemporary Art: Art from the 1960′s or 70′s up until this very minute.
The February/March issue of Elle Decor features the artist Sharon Horvath in their “Art Show” section and I was immediately inspired by her use of color to create texture and depth. Here are some of my favorite pieces:

"Description Without Place"

"Dash"

"Your Blue Loom, for Martin Ramirez"

"Human Arrangement (Ochre)"
